Introduction

“Dos Porquês e Do Não-Pode-Ser” (Reasoning About The Whys And The It-Cannot-Be) is a Brazilian monologue play performed both on an arena stage and also as a street intervention. The show discusses topics such as normality, prejudice, appearances, self-acceptance, and repression. It proposes a mindset shift towards diversity and inclusion. It invites spectators into changing their attitude towards life. Such proposition is developed through thinking about will power, breakthrough, and social inclusion. It reaches beyond aesthetic pleasure for it’s an artwork that stimulates reasoning and people’s engagement outside the bounds of the scenic space.
